For homeowners turning a garage, basement or spare room into a golf simulator, and for small businesses adding a bay or two.
First build? Read the chapters in order. Each decision sets up the next: your room picks the launch monitor, your enclosure sets the screen size, and the screen places the projector.
Upgrading? Jump to the chapter you need. Every chapter gives real numbers you can check against your space.

Follow the build path, one chapter per step, in the order you choose the parts. Click a step to jump to it.
After the build path: Design and Installation (chapter 8): free consultation, quote, design plans and installation coordination. Then a Sneak Peek at new IGO products (chapter 9) and Our Work and Next Steps (chapter 10).

Measure your width, depth and ceiling height with chapter 1. Then bring them to a free 30-minute call and we will help you plan what fits.

Measure the ceiling first. It is the hardest number to change.
Ceiling under 9'? Ask us about overhead launch monitors that work at lower ceiling heights. The full table is in section 1.1.
| Measure | Minimum | Recommended | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ceiling (mat to the lowest point) | 8' | 9'+* | Depends on the golfer's height |
| Width, single dexterity (off-center strike) | 10' | 12' | Works with a portable launch monitor for lefties and righties, or an overhead unit set up for one dexterity |
| Width, dual dexterity (center strike) | 14' | 15'+ | Select launch monitors can accommodate narrower rooms |
| Depth, unit overhead or beside the ball | 15' | 18' | 1' behind the screen + 10' to the ball + 4' (minimum) or 7' (recommended) behind it |
| Depth, radar unit behind the ball | 17' | 18' | 1' behind the screen + 8' to 10' of ball flight + 7' to 8' behind the ball |
| Tee (ball) to screen | 8' | 9'–11' | 8' for select launch monitors. Hitting less than 10' from the impact screen creates additional wear and tear |
| Behind the screen | 1' | 1' | Lets the screen absorb the impact of the golf ball |
Every number in a design plan starts with the room's measurements. Here is how this one checks out against the table.

Measure the room you have, not the one on the plans. Then tape the layout on the floor and swing in it.
A 25' tape measure, a laser distance measurer, a level, painter's tape, your driver, a mat as thick as the one you plan to use and your phone.
Your lowest ceiling point, narrowest width and center-line depth are the numbers that count. Book a free consultation and send us your sketch.
Each room has one problem to solve first: the door in a garage, access in a basement (getting everything down the stairs), limited space in a spare room.

Pick the room with the most height and floor space. Climate, moisture and light can be fixed; more height, depth or width takes a remodel. Torn between two? Book a free consultation.
Run power and cables while the walls and ceiling are still open.
| Cable | Typical run | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| HDMI, fiber (active optical) | 15' to 30' | PC to projector; plug the Source end into the PC |
| USB 3 (optional) | About 9'; go active for more | Swing cameras |
| Ethernet (Cat 6) | 30' | Wired launch monitors (several include the cable), internet |
Plan outlets for the projector and any overhead launch monitor, at least one at the PC, one at the touch screen, and one near the tee if you use a floor-based launch monitor.
Book a free 30-minute call and bring your measurements and photos.

Your launch monitor reads each shot from the ceiling, the floor beside the ball or the floor behind you. That spot decides what your room must give it, so choose the type first and the model second.
| Overhead | Floor camera | Radar | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it tracks | Ceiling cameras, most 2' to 4' in front of the ball (the EYE XR hangs 3'6" behind). | Floor cameras 14" to 2' from the ball, on the side across from you. | Radar 7' to 8' behind the ball (5' to 10', by model) follows the ball in flight; some add a camera. |
| Room needs | Ceiling height (most hang 9' to 10' up) and a joist to mount on. | Room to swing, plus a riser if your mat is raised. | Depth: 17' minimum, 18' recommended. |
| Dual dexterity | Lefties and righties share one tee. Nothing moves. | Move the unit to the other side; set it to left-handed. | Usually stays put; some set handedness in the app. |
| Pros | + Nothing on the floor + Adds no depth to the room |
+ No ceiling mount or wiring + Many run on battery and travel |
+ Nothing overhead or beside the ball + Most go outdoors too |
| Cons | – A permanent install – Shares the ceiling with the projector |
– Needs room on both sides of the ball if dual dexterity is intended – Must sit level with the mat |
– Needs the deepest room – Best spin needs Titleist RCT (radar capture) or dotted balls |
Overhead ceiling ranges come from each maker. Floor camera and radar units need only room to swing a club. Ball to screen is our recommendation.

* ProTee United VX: ProTee recommends 9' to 10' (10' is ideal) and reports no issues at 8'8", the lowest we recommend. ProTee says 8'6" can work, but fast shots then need a ball with lots of reference points, such as a TaylorMade TP5, to read spin correctly.
** Uneekor EYE XO2, EYE XR and EYE XO: 9' to 10' recommended. Uneekor doesn't guarantee accuracy outside that range.

Stimp is green speed: the higher the number, the faster the putt rolls.
Height is the total turf height, or the pile height where it says pile.

A golf projector has two good homes: on the ceiling, slightly behind the tee, or on the floor in front of it. We recommend the ceiling.
Takes a short throw projector (section 5.3).
Takes an ultra short throw projector (section 5.3).
On a ceiling mount, keep the lens no higher than the top of your impact screen and no more than 3' to 4' behind the golfer. Check the throw distance and offset (how far above or below the lens the picture starts) before you mount, and run power and HDMI only after you've decided on the mounting position.
Brightness comes first: in a room with light you can't control, a bright 1080p picture beats a dim 4K UHD one.
4K4K UHD: 8.3 million pixels on screen.
4K enh.Epson's 4K Enhancement shifts a 1920 × 1200 picture to show 4.6 million pixels.
No tag: 1080p, WUXGA or WXGA, up to 2.3 million pixels.
Your enclosure or impact screen sets the shape (chapter 3). Set the projector's aspect to match it.
4,000+ lumens is becoming the industry standard for golf simulator projectors, and 5,000+ is recommended for rooms with more ambient light. Pick a 4K UHD projector plus a 16:9 impact screen for a true 4K experience. 16:10 is our second choice of screen shape, followed by 4:3 (fits most rooms) and 1:1 for limited spaces.
The short throw and ultra short throw golf projectors we sell, best sellers first in each group. 4K = 4K UHD; 4K enh. = Epson 4K Enhancement (section 5.2).
They fit our ideal mounting: just over the tee area, no more than 4' behind the golf ball for most screen sizes. BenQ's two new models lead the list, then our best sellers.

For a floor mount in front of the tee. Most have a fixed lens, so your screen size sets the exact spot.

A design plan places your projector for your exact screen, ceiling and launch monitor. In this one:
Bring your screen size and ceiling height to a free 30-minute call, and we will help you pick the projector and its mounting spot.
Your PC powers your entire golf simulator. Don't skimp when choosing it.

Six things decide whether your simulator plays smoothly. Here is what each one does, with the SG3 PCs as the example.
123
123The part that matters most. It draws the course, the ball flight and every frame you see, and simulator software leans on it far more than on the processor.
RTX 5060 for 1080p; RTX 5070 or higher for 4KIt loads your software and courses and keeps the launch monitor, swing cameras and any other programs running side by side. Faster means shorter loading and cleaner swing video.
A current Intel Core Ultra (every SG3)Memory holds the program and the course you're playing, so the PC isn't constantly reading from its drive. Swing cameras and extra programs use it up quickly. Two matched sticks move data faster than one.
16GB for 1080p; 32GB for 4K or camerasChoose a solid state drive (SSD), never a spinning hard drive. The drive decides how fast the PC starts, opens a course and saves your swing videos.
An NVMe SSD (1TB or 2TB on the SG3s)GSPro, Foresight Premier and Trackman's software all need a Windows 10 or 11 PC. GSPro and Premier have no Mac version.
Windows 11 (included on every SG3)Match the PC to how your launch monitor connects: USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. If it uses the same link as your internet, plan a second port or an adapter. Stacked USB ports can share bandwidth, so several swing cameras may need their own USB card.
2.5G Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E, plenty of USB 3.2A touch screen beside the tee lets you change clubs, aim and courses with a tap, so you never walk back to a keyboard and mouse.
A 4K projector needs a 4K touch screen to match it. With a 1080p projector, a 1080p touch screen is all you need. Showing the same picture on both screens (mirroring) is also the easiest way to get touch working.

Most launch monitors come with their maker's own software. GSPro and TruGolf's E6 add more courses and online play, but each works only with certain launch monitors.

Trackman and Foresight write their own simulator software, and for many golfers it's the reason to choose them. Here's what you get, what it costs and why golfers pay more for it.

The Trackman iO and Trackman 4 both run Trackman Performance Studio (TPS), home base for practice, coaching and play. Its Virtual Golf 3 courses let you change the time of day, fog and clouds during a round.
You choose the software edition when you buy a Trackman iO, and year one of the subscription is included. After that, your edition renews every year.
| Edition | Trackman iO | Per year from year two | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home | From $13,995 | $700 | Ball data, range and target practice, on-course practice, Performance Center, 50 courses, 3 games, tournaments and online play |
| Home Complete | From $23,995 | $1,100 | Everything in Home, plus select club data, shot analysis, Test Center and every course and game |
Home measures 15 numbers per shot. Home Complete measures 23, adding club data such as club path and face angle; angle of attack and low point now cover every club, wedges included. Trackman 4 gives you more than 40.
Performance Center tests your shot-making with Strokes Gained scoring, and Map My Bag builds a true distance for every club.
On the range, the Trackman iO plays a 4-second impact video right after each shot. Shot Analysis (Home Complete) replays it with your club path and launch direction drawn over it.
The launch monitor and the software come from the same maker, trusted by leading touring professionals and world-class instructors.
Foresight Premier is Foresight's new simulator software for Windows PCs, and it replaces Foresight's FSX software. A Foresight+ membership runs Premier in your simulator and the Foresight app on the range, all on one account.

| Plan | Per year | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Core data in the app and Premier; last 10 sessions |
| Silver | $199 | Unlimited history, dispersion views, drills and challenges |
| Gold | $599 | Adds swing video, multiple profiles, club comparison and third-party software such as GSPro |
| Course Pass | $295 | 35 courses (with Silver or Gold) |
| Course Pass Pro | $595 | The full 111-course library (with Silver or Gold) |
Premier plays full rounds on real courses rendered in 4K, with multiple tees, pin placements and several putting modes.
One membership covers Premier in your simulator and the Foresight app on the range, so every session lands in one place.
Gold opens GSPro (not on the GC2) and other third-party software when you want more courses or games.

Talk it through with a golf simulator expert.
A mat on a bare floor leaves a step at its edge and nowhere to putt. Single-Level flooring is our own turnkey floor: it puts the whole bay on one level.

Our own hitting surfaces, designed to create the fairway lies you'd find at your local muni: a standalone hitting strip, and a golf mat in six sizes.

The same strip that sits flush in our Single-Level flooring, on its own: replace a worn strip, or set it into your own mat or floor.

The same hitting surface as a golf mat. 5' x 9' and 5' x 10' have a center strip; smaller sizes are one piece.
Book a free consultation and we will size the floor and hitting surface for your enclosure.
